Two ridiculous sightings at once:

1) Watching Fox College Sports Central and seeing a broadcast from KOMU, my old station in Columbia.

2) During said broadcast, a Coke commercial featuring a buddy of mine from high school. I had only seen the commercial maybe once before, so that was fun.

Wardrobe Malfunction

I like to think of myself as reasonably stylish. Even when I go to work I don't want to wear the same old boring shirt and tie - gotta spiff it up a little, you dig? So, yesterday I wore to work and received more than one disparaging comment about my choice of attire. I decided to run an experiment: the next day I would wear something very ordinary, something like . Before 11 AM I had two different people tell me I looked "sharp." Sometimes being right makes me sad.

It's all lies

When I was younger, one of the small pleasures in life was waking up weekend mornings and looking outside to a bright blue sky, knowing that the blue sky also meant a warm day just asking to be played in. I was often denied that pleasure in Missouri or Rochester - the gray sits on top of you like the lid on a box - but now that I'm in Washington the blue skies have returned. Unfortunately, the same connotation does not. I feel so deceived when I walk outside to a perfectly clear sky only to get hit in the face with a bitter chill. Where is the hip, densely packed urban metropolis with an excellent subway system that is actually warm? Maybe I have to go build it myself...

Today is a day of love. Today is a day of beauty and hope. This is the one day every year in which problems and flaws are set aside for the gift of hope. Only the positives are accentuated today; the negatives can wait. No matter who you call your own, today is bound to put a little hop in your step.
